The summer has drawn to its unofficial end with the arrival of the Labour Day long weekend. It hasn’t been the greatest summer weather-wise here in Toronto, but it sure beat the winter we had!

Labour Day is a good time to reflect on your work. Why do you do what you do, besides the paycheque?

For me, it starts with the people. I view my motum b2b team as a family. So many fun, creative ideas and unique personalities make going to work every day an adventure.

Our clients are also a pretty neat group of people. I feel lucky to be exposed to so many different industries and get to see how things are made, and why (I am an admitted plant tour junkie). When it comes to actually producing work, there’s nothing I love more than digging in behind the scenes of a brand or product and coming up with a great communications strategy. And then working with the creative teams to make it come to life.

And is there anything more satisfying than looking at the metrics and seeing that work outperform expectations?

Our strategies and campaigns, websites and apps, videos and social media profiles—they’re labours of love. They’re almost like children to us. We conceive them. We nurture them. We guide them. Then we send them out in the world and take impossible pride in their achievements.

So while the rehearsals for the air show portion of the Canadian National Exhibition rattle the office windows—an annual tradition that heralds back-to-school time—I can honestly say that I love my job.
